Yes, shortness isn’t always a disadvantage, but I didn’t say it was and my arguments are not based on the idea that it is. The example of short people in basketball is just an example of one way in which a person can be disadvantaged. The point is that there are many ways of being disadvantaged (even though they obviously won’t all apply equally in all sports) and I question the fairness of making special provision for the potential disadvantage of being female, when there are all sorts of other people who are disadvantaged in other ways, but no special provision is made for them. Thus, the point that you make does not remotely invalidate my argument.

And you haven’t made it at all clear why you claim that my stance ‘just doesn’t work’ when applied to reality. You’re being rather vague, I’m afraid! :)
