Yes. I wasn’t suggesting we should actually aim for zero growth as if it is intrinsically a bad thing. I was suggesting we should stop obsessing about rising GDP as if it were an intrinsically good thing.
There is certainly a lot of growth potential in areas such as art and education. However, it is also possible a lot of such services in an advanced society might be provided for free, on an open-source basis. In such circumstances, they would still be technically contributing towards economic growth, but they might not be counted towards GDP, so the official figures for ‘economics growth’ might not show any increase, even though the real economy was still growing.
