I agree that many people do find gut-reaction difficult to overcome. But if that gut reaction is based on prejudice, they should strive hard to overcome it nonetheless.
I feel I should also point out some apparent prejudice in your response.

That is, of course, nonsense, probably based on prejudice. It is entirely within the realm of possibility that a part time cross dresser can have some real understanding of the issue. They may not have complete understanding of the issue, but then, of course, neither is anyone likely to have that — you included. I hope you don’t mind me politely pointing this out.
And when you write:

..I would reply that it is also true that no amount of daily experience can entirely replace logic and principle. We should all work together to combine our logic, intelligence and experience to come up with better solutions for us all.
