Hi Megan! And thanks very much indeed for responding to my query.

As you can see, I’ve been a little concerned lately that Medium may have been focusing on promoting writers who’ve never previously contributed any stories to Medium. I’m concerned that this may be at the expense of writers who have already contributed a considerable catalogue of quality stories to the platform, with little or no promotional support.

I’ve got nothing against Alex or his story. And I’ve no personal axe to grind against OneZero, as I’ve not (yet) submitted any stories of my own to OneZero for consideration.

But I do think it is important that Medium should be transparent about how stories are chosen for its in-house publications.

The official method for submitting stories to OneZero is outlined on this page. It only mentions submitting stories via e-mail. So is this how Alex got selected to write for OneZero, or was it through some other route? If being a Twitter user is an important part of gaining attention from Medium’s editors, then I think it’s only fair to make sure that regular writers here on Medium are aware of that.

I’m sure you’ll recognise the importance of having a submission and selection process that is both fair and transparent.

Many Thanks! And I hope you have a fantastic weekend too! :)
