Sorry, I think perhaps I didn’t make myself quite clear. I was suggesting that many people currently do make money by means other that producing what people want. And they often use unethical methods.

For example, people use deception to sell products and they sell shoddy products which people wouldn’t buy if they knew how poor the quality was.

Also: I would say that whilst the incentive to get rich is a major incentive today, it could eventually be eclipsed by other motivations. (Think Star Trek!) In particular, lots of people do have a strong desire to feel useful — to feel they contribute something to other people and to society in general. And utilising this motivation might well result in a superior allocation of resources.
